A native of Oakdale, Ca. Monte has been fishing the Motherlode Lakes his

I took a road trip yesterday and visited Lake Don Pedro, Lake McClure and Lake McSwain.  I spoke with many people and saw quite a few fish.  There was an ABA bass tournament at Don Pedro and it seemed that most people had limits.  I left the weigh in early and 16+ lbs was leading with maybe 8 boats left to weigh in.  The report from the Bass Anglers is that fishing is wide open with bed fish throughout the lake.

At McClure, I spoke with a few people and saw some nice kings and rainbows at the fish cleaning station.  I also spoke with a family that did well fishing for bass.  Not sure what event was going on at the lake but there were quite a few boats.

McSwain was crazy, seems as if everyone fishing had fish.  Spoke with the owner of the store and she told me that the fishing has been off the hook.  I noticed that there will be another Trout Derby on May 8 which is Mothers Day.
