LAKE DON PEDRO, great bite here on king salmon, with four trips on Pedro this past week clients were treated to a very good and fast bite on the fiesty king salmon. Target depths were from 60' to 140' feet with most fish coming off Blank Peak and across Fleming Bay. Effective lures this past week, rolled Treadfin Shad or Anchovies, Uncle Larry's glow hoochies, Vance's Sockeye Slammers, and an old favorite pink/blue Wee-Tads all trolled behind either U/V Slingblades or 8" Hotspot watermelon Dodgers. Kings to five pounds. Rainbow trout are also falling for small lures, Hummdingers, Uncle Larry's Spinners and Slim Willies in tandem with a nightcrawler, work the top 30' for bows to five pounds. Carlene Moore from Ceres landed a beautiful bow that top the scale at 5.2lbs while trolling off Blank Peak.
NEW MELONES, a great bite here today 5-16-10 on Kokanee. Found fish in Coyote Creek arm at depths from 26' to 42' and also a good bite off the Spillway at 38' on Vance's Sockeye Slammers, Uncle Larry's Pinkie, and Glitterbug orange hoochies. Vance's Gold Dodgers, Shasta U/V Slingblades were the preferred dodgers with all lures and dodgers scented with either Pautzkes Krill, garlic, Kokanee Special or plain Shoepeg Corn. Don't spare the scent early season kokes are growing, putting on weight that will carry them as they mature into their spawning cycle.
