Gold Country Sport Fishing Motherlode Fishing Report

Sunday, October 10, 2010

The fishing continues on here at Don Pedro, however, it's
taking longer to put fish in the boat, but its also more time to
enjoy the outdoors at this big reservoir. Clients Steve, Alyssa,
Robert and Kelly Foster from San Jose enjoyed the day watching their kids
two, Alyssa and Robert reeling in there first fish ever while fishing
with guide Monte Smith of Gold Country Sportfishing on
October 9th at Lake Don Pedro.  They experienced some great
weather along with some beautiful fish, they boated twelve
fish on the day and Kelly, outdoing her dad on a double hookup
catching the biggest fish of the day, with a fish that nearly
tipped the scales at four pounds.  All our fish came on our Chuker T spoon trolled at depths from 40 to 55 feet deep, we had to cover alot of water to find our fish as that's what it's taking now as the bait is really scattered.

The water is starting to cool at 72 to 74 degrees, but with the warm weather forcasted, it will hold steady, even fishing on a Saturday, their was not much boating pressure, which makes this one of the best time to fish.

We also had a trip last Sunday with Anthony, Nick, Brandon and Robert and battled the elements of Mother nature of wind, rain, thunder and lighting, but we managed twelve trout and a scrappy small mouth bass for our efforts.
The fish are hitting our home made spoons called the Chucker T.

Lake McClure - We took a scouting trip to McClure to see what was up and we ended up putting two limits of trout in the boat, all the fish weighed in at about two pounds each, the lake is loaded with shad and so were the fish as they were burping them up when we put them in the ice chest.
The fish we caught were from 50 to 70 feet deep, and we fished from Barrett's cove to the dam for our fish.
