Lake Camanche
Lake Camanche sits in the rolling foothills of the Sierra Nevada and is located in the heart of the Motherlode. Camanche is one of California's premier Bass fisheries. There are many different species of fish that can be found in Lake Camanche including Smallmouth, Spotted , Northern and Florida-strain Largemouth Bass along with Rainbow Trout, Catfish, Crappie and Bluegill. For Bass, anglers should concentrate on structure such as trees, rocks and offshore humps. Try casting crankbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs and plastic baits around cover. For Trout, anglers can troll small shad imitation lures along with spinners tipped with nightcrawlers. Crappie and other panfish can be caught with Crappie Jigs, nightcrawlers and minnows under a bobber. For Catfish, fish the main lake coves with liver, nightcrawlers or cut baits such as anchovies and mackerel. There is a marina on both the North and South shores each with a 6 lane launch ramp, berthing, storage and rental boats. All Anglers 16 years and older are required to possess a valid California Fishing License and a daily fishing access permit.
