Lake Amador

For over 30 years, the Lockhart Family, of four generations, has been in the process of developing the finest fishing resort in the Western United States.  Lake Amador Resort is located in the foothills of the Sierras and is only one hour from Sacramento or Stockton and two hours from the entire Bay area.Years ago, the Lockhart’s realized that Mother Nature, alone, couldn't’ provide the quality of fishing that our anglers deserved, so they set out to raise the best eating, hardest fighting, and biggest trout anywhere in the country.  A special strain of crossbred trout from Switzerland named the Donaldson Trout. They are part Steelhead, Cutthroat, and Rainbow. Anglers from all over the world now rave about the spectacular jumps and awesome fight that these unique fish exhibit.  Weekly trout plants of up to 5000 pounds, averaging 2-6+lbs each provide not only fabulous fishing, but also the best catching ratio in the country. Besides trout, Lake Amador held the Largemouth Bass record for Northern California for over 10 years at 17.1 lbs.  The bass fishing is simply superb!  The peaceful adventure on the 400-acre, 13 1/2 miles of beautiful Lake Amador shoreline will keep the angler returning often.

Other trophy fish are also abundant. Huge Catfish up to 40 pounds are caught all summer long. Slab side Crappie and 2 pound Bluegill round out the bountiful fish population that is waiting to provide you with hours of exciting fishing entertainment.  You will also find a well-stocked bait & tackle store along with a full line of rental boats located in the lodge.

Lake Amador now has an expanded launch ramp with new docks and a paved parking area.  The parking area is now lighted at night for those nocturnal fishing adventures. No  Jet Ski’s or Water Skiing allowed.

Lake Amador Camping

The Lockhart Family started the building process of creating Lake Amador Resort in 1973. Back then, only twelve campsites existed. They have expanded the campground to 150 beautiful campsites, all can be reserved and all are surrounded by big beautiful oak trees right on the shoreline of Lake Amador. Showers, flush toilets, privacy and great views abound. A swimming pond and waterslide have been added for your enjoyment.

The Lockharts then built an RV park surrounded by water and stunning views. The all new deluxe park is nestled in the historic foothills of the Sierras, only 2 1/2 hours from the Bay Area. A private peninsula offers 73 lakeside full-hook-ups, where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings. Spend a day on the lake where the bass fishing is unsurpassed and the trout fishing superb.
