Bruce Hamby's Motherlode Area Fishing Report
New Melones
Very good Kokanee action for fish in the 171/2 to 181/2 inch range. Were also seeing a lot of immature
koks 6 to 10 inches. The secret is to fish deep, work the structure, and use large lures. The larger fish are suspended 80 to 90 feet deep, between the spillway and the dam. Green and firetigger Apex, Uncle Larry's green perch, Glidderbugs green firetigger behind Vance's nickel green dodgers. This combination will help catch bigger fish without being plagued with next year Kokanee. Were also using nickel green Slim Willies for ball trolls, along with Pro - Cure freshwater shrimp, and Herring for our corn scent.
Bruce knows these Motherlode area lakes extremely well, one of his clients landed a 10 lb 6 ounce King Salmon out of Lake Don Pedro last year, and in August of 2006, one of Bruce's clients landed a lake record 31 pound Striper from New Hogan Reservoir. Check out Sierra Sport fishing's website at:
